Section III softball teams made a strong showing in the first New York State Sportswriters Association rankings of the season, with six teams ranked among the top 10 in their respective classes. Camden (Class A), Marcellus (Class B), Utica Notre Dame (Class B), Sandy Creek (Class C), Morrisville-Eaton (Class D), and Oriskany (Class D) all earned recognition for their strong starts to the 2023 campaign.

Solvay outfielder Jenna Wing has emerged as a formidable force in Section III Class B softball, leading the league in hits and showcasing exceptional hitting prowess.
Rome Free Academy softball player Kenidee Campbell is among the Class AAA leaders in hits so far this season. The Black Knights are off to a strong start, with Campbell leading the way at the plate. Caitlin Platis and Makayla Howard are also key contributors for RFA.
