Former Washington Police Officer Found with Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Son Safe

A former Washington police officer, Elias Huizar, who was wanted in connection with two killings, was found in Oregon with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His 1-year-old son was found safe with him. Huizar was believed to be heading to Mexico with his son after allegedly killing his ex-wife and another woman, his girlfriend, in West Richland, Washington. Oregon State Police located Huizar driving south on Interstate 5 near Eugene and pursued him. He was found shot in the head, and his condition is currently unknown. The boy was taken into protective custody.

Suspect in Eastern Washington Double Murder and Child Abduction Captured in Eugene

A man suspected of murdering two people and abducting a 1-year-old child in eastern Washington was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon following a police chase near Eugene, Oregon. The suspect, 39-year-old Elias Huizar, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The 1-year-old child was recovered and is safe. Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, was the subject of a multi-state manhunt for the past 24 hours. He was due in court on Monday for an alleged rape charge.
