Edmonton Police Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation by ASIRT

Edmonton police have requested an investigation by the independent police watchdog, ASIRT, after an officer shot a man in the city’s McCauley neighborhood. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when officers responded to a reported assault at a home near 109th Avenue and 93rd Street. According to a news release, a 33-year-old man assaulted another man at the residence. When police arrived, the suspect exited the residence carrying a weapon, resulting in a confrontation that led to officers discharging their firearms. The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition in hospital. A nearby home was also struck by gunfire, although there were no injuries reported. ASIRT is now investigating the incident, which is standard procedure for serious incidents involving police in Alberta.

RCMP Hunt for Hit-and-Run Driver in Parkland County

RCMP are searching for the driver of a grey Chevrolet Orlando involved in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured in Parkland County. A 39-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured early Wednesday morning after being struck by a car in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Nurse Left with Irreversible Brain Damage After Tesla Driver Falsely Claimed Autopilot

A nurse who was struck by a Tesla driver while trying to board a tram has been left with irreversible brain damage, forcing her to put her life’s dreams on hold. The Tesla driver, 25-year-old Sakshi Agrawal, fled the scene but later turned herself in to police. She initially claimed that her Tesla was on autopilot, but police later found that this was untrue. Agrawal pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing serious injury and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. She will be sentenced at a later date.

SANFL Player Sam May Remains in ICU After Suffering Serious Injuries

South Australian footy player Sam May, 24, has been placed in an induced coma after suffering serious injuries on Sunday night. May was found injured in Port Lincoln at around 9 am on Monday, after being separated from his West Adelaide teammates on a night they were celebrating their first win of the season. He was treated at Port Lincoln Hospital before being flown to Royal Adelaide, where he remains in a fight for his life in the ICU. May’s family and the West Adelaide Football Club have expressed their gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time.
