Shahjahan Bouya, Bangladesh’s most infamous executioner, known for hanging both serial killers and politicians, has passed away at the age of 74. Bouya, who is believed to have conducted at least 26 executions, became a hangman while serving a 42-year prison sentence for robbery and murder. He was released in 2023 after his sentence was reduced due to his execution work. Bouya carried out the executions of several high-profile individuals, including military officers convicted of assassinating Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and politicians convicted of war crimes.
