Chanel is partnering with renowned Japanese filmmakers to host a masterclass for aspiring filmmakers at Waseda University’s Okuma Auditorium. The two-day event features talks and workshops led by acclaimed directors Hirokazu Kore-eda and Miwa Nishikawa, alongside Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton. Participants will gain valuable insights into filmmaking and have the opportunity to compete in a short film competition with the chance to have their work showcased in Tokyo and Paris.

Eleven compelling short films from around the world have been selected for the esteemed Short Film Competition at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, set to run from May 14th to 25th. These cinematic gems showcase diverse perspectives, captivating storytelling, and innovative filmmaking techniques, promising an unforgettable cinematic experience. The jury, led by award-winning Belgian director Lubna Azabal, will meticulously evaluate each entry, ultimately awarding the prestigious Short Film Palme d’Or and three prizes dedicated to student films within the La Cinef selection.
