India’s alarmingly high rate of road accidents has prompted Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari to call for urgent action. At the SIAM annual conference, Gadkari urged stakeholders, particularly car manufacturers, to prioritize safety by investing in driver training programs and developing safer vehicles. He highlighted the importance of the Bharat NCAP program, a crash-safety rating system that encourages manufacturers to prioritize occupant protection.
