Sibling Rivalry Turns Deadly Over Redevelopment Dispute in Mumbai

A domestic dispute over providing a home for rehabilitation led to the tragic death of one brother at the hands of another in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari East. The deceased 53 year old victim, Subodh Sawant, succumbed to his injuries after being struck on the head with a hard object during an altercation with his younger brother, 48 year old Deepak Sawant. The incident occurred due to Subodh’s opposition to redeveloping the family chawl, which was registered under their mother’s name. Frequent arguments had escalated into a violent confrontation on Tuesday, resulting in Subodh’s untimely demise. Meghwadi Police promptly arrested Deepak in connection with the case, and further investigations are underway.
