Waterlogged Dargah Road in Guwahati Remains Neglected Despite Assurances

Residents of Sijubari in Hatigaon face ongoing waterlogging issues on Dargah Road, which has been left unattended despite repeated appeals. The road serves as a crucial link to Lalganesh but has suffered from poor drainage for over three years. Locals report water levels reaching up to two feet, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and requiring them to share footpaths with vehicles. The problem has worsened due to improper drainage due to the convergence of two drainage channels at an upward gradient. Authorities have acknowledged the issue but have yet to take concrete action, promising solutions after the elections. Desilting works are underway, but the task remains challenging, and the situation is expected to continue throughout the year.
