Indian-Origin Man Sentenced for Phishing Women’s Social Media for Intimate Images

K Eshwaran, an Indian-origin man employed with the Singapore Air Force, was sentenced to 11 months in jail for phishing women’s social media login details to obtain their intimate images. The charges include 10 under the Computer Misuse Act, with 21 additional charges considered during sentencing. Eshwaran targeted victims he knew personally or those whose intimate images had been shared online. He impersonated a helpful netizen to send phishing links, claiming that the victims’ images had been compromised. In some cases, he used trial and error to access victims’ accounts. The identity of the victims remains protected due to the sensitive nature of the offenses.
