Tokyo’s SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 is a month-long exhibition showcasing global startups and technology innovations aimed at urban sustainability. This event has rapidly become a cornerstone, similar to SXSW in the U.S., Slush in Finland, and Viva Tech in France, attracting top startups, city leaders from across the globe, and an anticipated half a million attendees who will experience technological exhibitions and discussions focused on the future of cities. The event is structured around three main programs running concurrently:
– Showcase Program: Provides a glimpse into Tokyo in 2050 through a sensory-rich experience.
– Global Startup Program: Asia’s largest innovation conference with 4,000 attendees and over 130 speakers.
– City Leaders Program: Over 40 city leaders will address common urban challenges, focusing on safety, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability.

Scientists have developed a programmable antenna that could pave the way for advancements in 6G technology, smart city applications, and 3D holograms. The dynamic metasurface antenna (DMA), which is controlled by a miniature digital processor, can operate in the 60 GHz millimeter-wave (mmWave) band reserved for industrial, scientific, and medical applications. This antenna prototype holds potential for improving communication, sensing, and imaging capabilities in future 6G networks.
