Samsung Galaxy Ring: Why I Chose It Over The Oura Ring

The Samsung Galaxy Ring has just launched, and I took the plunge. Here’s why I chose the Galaxy Ring over its main competitor, the Oura Ring, including the lack of a subscription fee, its ability to replace my smartwatch in certain situations, and its small size and weight. However, I also acknowledge the potential downsides, like the lack of Samsung’s established track record with smart rings and the possibility of future updates being limited.

Prime Day Deal: Oura Ring 3 Now 19% Off for Amazon Prime Members

The Oura Ring 3, a popular fitness tracking ring, is currently on sale for Prime Day. Amazon Prime members can get the ring for 19% off, with the cheapest option being the black and silver ‘Horizon’ variation. This deal offers a chance to own a comprehensive health tracker with exceptional comfort and accurate readings, making it a compelling option for those seeking a discreet and reliable fitness companion.

Ultrahuman Ring Air: First Smart Ring with AFib Detection, but with a Subscription

The Ultrahuman Ring Air has become the first smart ring to offer atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection. This feature is part of Ultrahuman’s new PowerPlugs app store and requires a subscription. The ring monitors heart rhythm and alerts users to potential AFib, a feature the CEO calls ‘lifesaving technology.’ While the feature is available in limited markets, it’s expected to launch in the US and India soon. Ultrahuman also opened its data streams to developers, paving the way for more apps and features in its PowerPlugs store, some of which will be paid.

Oura Ring: Still the Smart Ring King?

The Oura Ring, despite its three-year anniversary, remains a valuable tool for health and fitness tracking due to its simple yet informative app. However, the impending release of Samsung’s Galaxy Ring poses a significant challenge, particularly if it avoids a subscription fee. The Oura Ring’s strengths lie in its elegant hardware, user-friendly interface, and data depth, but its growing feature set may impact its simplicity.

Circular Ring Slim: A Refined Smart Ring with New Features

Circular has released an updated version of its smart ring, the Circular Ring Slim, boasting improved scratch resistance, IP68 water and dust resistance, and enhanced algorithms for health tracking. It features new Circles in the app for visual data analysis and improved sleep tracking algorithms. While the price remains at €259, the subscription fee for app features remains unclear.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Release Date Revealed in Legal Filing

Samsung has taken legal action against the maker of the Oura Ring, accidentally revealing the release date of its upcoming Galaxy Ring. In a petition filed in a U.S. district court, Samsung stated that it plans to release the Galaxy Ring in the U.S. “in or around August.” The Galaxy Ring is expected to feature various health sensors and is anticipated to be priced at around $300. Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Ring at an Unpacked event in Paris on July 10th, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Samsung Ring Leak: Price and Subscription Rumors Emerge

According to recent leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Ring could be priced between $300 and $350, making it comparable to the Oura Ring. However, rumors suggest that Samsung may introduce a subscription plan for the Ring, which would grant access to advanced health-tracking features. This move would align with Samsung’s consideration of a subscription for the Samsung Health app, which the Ring will connect with.

Target Partners with Oura to Expand Smart Ring Retail Footprint

Target has teamed up with Oura to enhance its in-store retail experience for the Oura Ring wearable. Customers can now try out the Oura Ring at Target locations, eliminating the need for at-home sizing kits and reducing the waiting period before receiving their ring. Additionally, Target offers a $10 gift card with the purchase of an Oura sizing kit, applicable to future purchases at Target or Target.com.
