Ladakh Gets Five New Districts, Climate Activist Expresses Gratitude

Ladakh, the largest union territory in India, has been divided into seven districts with the creation of five new districts: Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang. The move, welcomed by locals, was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk expressed gratitude for fulfilling the long-standing demand but raised concerns regarding the autonomy of the new districts.
