Sonos Delivers Interim App Update to Address Battery Drain and Stability Issues

Sonos has released an interim app update addressing excessive battery usage on iOS devices and improving stability when adding new products. This update comes after months of user complaints regarding the app’s performance and follows the CEO’s public apology and commitment to biweekly updates. While the update offers some relief, users eagerly await a future update enabling direct integration of the Sonos Ace headphones with the Beam soundbar.

Sonos App Now Supports Bluetooth Headphones

The Sonos app now includes an option for Bluetooth headphones, specifically designed for the recently released Sonos Ace headphones. This integration allows users to access features such as EQ adjustment, active noise cancellation control, and spatial audio settings from within the Sonos app. However, the Bluetooth headphone option is currently limited to the Sonos Ace headphones and cannot be used with other Bluetooth devices.

Sonos Ace Headphones: Which Color Should You Choose?

Sonos’ recently released Ace headphones are available in two basic colors: black and soft white. The soft white model features chrome accents, while the black model has a more muted look. However, there is a third option to consider: the panda look, where white earcups are paired with the black headphone base, and vice versa. This option requires two pairs of headphones, but it can save you $45.

Sonos Debuts Ace Wireless Headphones with TV Audio Swap Feature

Sonos has officially unveiled its first set of wireless headphones, the $449 Sonos Ace, which offer a range of features including active noise cancellation, transparency, spatial audio with head tracking, hi-res and lossless audio, and Bluetooth Multipoint. However, unlike existing Sonos products, the Ace do not have Wi-Fi connectivity for whole-home streaming and seamless interaction with other Sonos speakers. Instead, they feature a limited Wi-Fi capability that allows them to swap TV audio with a Sonos Arc soundbar with a single button press. The Ace also support low-latency Bluetooth codecs for high-quality audio streaming from compatible devices and up to 30 hours of battery life with ANC enabled.

The Sonos Ace headphones are designed to be comfortable for extended use, with memory foam ear cushions and a low-profile headband. They also feature a range of physical buttons for easy control of media playback, noise cancellation modes, and voice assistant access. Overall, the Sonos Ace are a promising entry into the wireless headphone market, offering a combination of high-end features and a unique TV audio swap feature.
