Virgin Galactic Completes Second Space Tourism Flight of 2023

Virgin Galactic has successfully flown four tourists to the edge of space and back, marking the second flight of its spaceplane this year. The Galactic 07 mission carried passengers from Turkey, the United States, and Italy to an altitude of approximately 55 miles (88.51 km) during a flight that lasted over an hour. The space tourism company conducted the flight from Spaceport America in New Mexico, marking the final commercial flight for its VSS Unity spaceplane. Virgin Galactic is currently developing fourth-generation spaceships scheduled to enter commercial service in 2026.

Indian Entrepreneur Gopi Thotakura Makes History as First Space Tourist

Gopi Thotakura, a 30-year-old entrepreneur and pilot, has made history as the first Indian tourist to venture into space. He was part of Blue Origin’s New Shepard-25 mission on Sunday, organized by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Thotakura proudly displayed a small tricolour flag during the flight, capturing the moment on video. The mission marked a significant milestone for the New Shepard program, with 37 individuals now having flown into space. Thotakura, a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is an experienced pilot and traveler who also carried a postcard to space on behalf of Blue Origin’s Club for the Future.
