Pa. Game Commission Launches Aerial Spraying to Control Spongy Moths

In an effort to combat the spongy moth population, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has announced that it will be conducting aerial spraying operations over 123,000 acres of state game land. The spraying, which will utilize Mimic 2LV, will commence once leaf-out occurs and spongy moth eggs hatch, likely in late April or May. While hunting and trapping season changes and bag limits have been announced, the commission has assured that spraying will not occur on the first morning of youth turkey season or the first day of the spring turkey season. The use of Mimic 2LV is considered generally safe for humans, but precautions should be taken to avoid eye or skin irritation in case of exposure.
