Chris Silverwood has stepped down as head coach of the Sri Lanka national cricket team, citing personal reasons and a desire to spend time with his family. Under his leadership, Sri Lanka achieved significant success, including winning the T20 Asia Cup in 2022 and reaching the finals of the 50-over Asia Cup in 2023.
Yoni Patel, cricket team manager of the Legend Cricket League 2024, has been indicted before the Colombo High Court over match-fixing charges. Former New Zealand legend Neil Broom and Sri Lankan cricketer Upul Tharanga had alleged that Patel pressured them into match-fixing deals during the tournament. The State Counsel representing Sri Lanka’s Attorney General informed that an indictment for a criminal trial before the High Court had been filed. Patel is currently under a travel ban from leaving Sri Lanka.
