City Councilor Bridget Matthews-Kane has announced her candidacy for the state representative position representing Southampton and most of Westfield. The seat is currently held by state Rep. Kelly Pease (R-Westfield), who has confirmed his intent to seek reelection.
A warrant accusing a Democratic state representative from Philadelphia of violating a protective order was dropped a day before he faced a contested primary. Authorities determined that there was no active protective order in place. District Attorney Larry Krasner stated that the warrant request contained incomplete information. Boyle faces a primary opponent in his run for an eighth term. He was previously stripped of committee chairmanship and Capitol access due to an incident at a bar. Democratic leaders have proposed a process to determine incapacitation of state representatives and consider sanctions or expulsion.
