Mayors Pledge Improved Rail Travel Between Liverpool and Manchester

The mayors of Manchester and Liverpool have announced plans to enhance rail travel between the two cities through the establishment of a new Liverpool-Manchester Railway Board. This development follows the Government’s confirmation that alternative options will be considered to bolster the Liverpool-Manchester corridor after the scrapping of HS2. If re-elected, the mayors aim to make progress on the project in time for the 200th anniversary of the world’s first passenger railway in Rainhill.
