Carnival Cruise Ship Rescues 28 Cuban Nationals Stranded at Sea After Departing from Tampa

A Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Paradise, rescued 28 Cuban nationals who were stranded at sea on Sunday, August 28, 2023, after departing from Tampa. The ship’s crew spotted the vessel in distress around 2:30 p.m. and turned the ship around to provide assistance. All 28 individuals were taken aboard, given food, and examined by the ship’s medical team. Carnival Paradise notified the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West and Roatan officials. The ship was scheduled to visit Roatan, Honduras, on Monday after departing from Tampa on Saturday for a five-day Caribbean voyage.
