Omaha Public Schools (OPS) has expanded its partnership with Zum, the leading provider of modern student transportation, to offer its revolutionary technology platform to all K-12 students and families. This expansion will allow parents of special education students to use the Zum app to track school buses, receive real-time notifications, and manage transportation. Zum’s technology platform will be available to all OPS families starting in January 2025, enhancing safety, communication, efficiency, and equity for all students.

The City Elementary School District (SCESD) has expanded its bus fleet with the introduction of ten new electric school buses and ten electric bus chargers. These buses will primarily serve students with special needs, providing a quieter and cleaner ride. SCESD has partnered with Highland Electric Fleets for infrastructure upgrades, allowing the buses to be fully charged in 4.5 hours with an approximate operating range of 107 miles. The electric buses will replace traditional diesel buses on multiple routes, reducing student absenteeism and improving air quality.
