Detectives investigating the Gilgo Beach murders have expanded their search to a wooded area in Manorville, nearly 50 miles from where the victims’ bodies were found. The search, which began on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday near Exit 70, is part of an ongoing investigation into the case. Accused serial killer Rex Heuermann, 59, has been charged with the murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Costello. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his trial is pending.
