Second Phase of Lok Sabha Elections in West Bengal: 15.68% Polling Recorded in Darjeeling, Raiganj, and Balurghat

The second phase of the Lok Sabha election witnessed a 15.68% polling in Darjeeling, Raiganj, and Balurghat constituencies of West Bengal by 9 am. BJP state president Sukanta Majumder alleged hooliganism by the ruling TMC in Balurghat, which the TMC denied. Polling began at 7 am and will conclude at 6 pm. Majumder, who is seeking re-election from the Balurghat seat, faced off against TMC leader Biplab Mitra. Majumder claimed that a BJP worker was assaulted outside a polling booth and blamed the TMC for engaging in hooliganism. The Election Commission received over 240 minor complaints from both the TMC and BJP, with the latter accusing the TMC of voter intimidation and norm violations. Despite the allegations, the Election Commission reported peaceful polling in West Bengal as of Friday morning.
