Two policemen were injured in a brazen attack by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday morning. The attack, which occurred during a weekly market in Jagargunda village, highlights the ongoing security challenges posed by the Maoist insurgency in the region.
Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, a known Naxalite stronghold, have recovered three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Maoists. The discovery comes after a series of incidents highlighting the ongoing Naxal activity in the region, including the alleged killing of a school teacher suspected of being a police informer.
In two separate anti-naxal operations in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma and Bijapur districts, security forces eliminated three Maoists. The encounters resulted in the recovery of weapons, explosives, and Maoist-related materials. The identities of the deceased Maoists remain unknown.
