airBaltic Begins Summer Season on a High Note

airBaltic, the national carrier of Latvia, reported a strong start to its summer season, transporting 365,200 passengers in April 2024, marking an 11% increase compared to the same period last year. This passenger volume represents the second-highest April tally in the airline’s history. The airline also operated 3,750 flights during the month, a 15% rise from the previous year.

Edmonton Outdoor Pools Set to Reopen for Summer Season

Edmonton’s outdoor pool season is set to begin with the reopening of Queen Elizabeth outdoor pool on May 18. Fred Broadstock pool will follow on May 25. The much-anticipated Mill Creek outdoor pool, which has been closed for four years for renovations, will also reopen this summer, with the date to be announced later. Wîhkwêntôwin outdoor pool, formerly known as Oliver pool, and Borden natural swimming pool are scheduled to open in June. The City of Edmonton plans to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wîhkwêntôwin pool this year with special festivities to be announced later. The City Hall Fountain will also reopen on May 18 and will remain open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Splash Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 25. All reopening dates are subject to weather and air quality conditions. Timed reservation entries will be available seven days in advance of each pool’s opening date, starting May 11 for Queen Elizabeth outdoor pool.

The new routes include Tirana, Albania; Chisinau, Moldova; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Pristina, Kosovo; Skopje, North Macedonia; and Sofia, Bulgaria. These additions bring airBaltic’s network to over 70 routes from Riga, offering greater connectivity and flexibility for travelers. Regina’s Neuron E-Scooters Return for Second Season, Bring Environmental and Economic Benefits

Regina’s Neuron e-scooters are back for the summer season, marking their second year of operation in the city. Last year, riders traveled 165,000 kilometers in Regina, with an average trip length of 2.9 kilometers and duration of 17 minutes. A survey conducted by Neuron revealed that 90% of respondents believe e-scooters have a positive impact on the city. Notably, 54% of all trips in Regina replaced car journeys, reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 14 tonnes. Neuron’s General Manager for Canada, Ankush Karwal, expressed enthusiasm about the return of e-scooters, highlighting their safety features and the positive economic impact they bring to local businesses.

Indian Railways Enhances Catering Facilities for Summer Season

Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), in collaboration with Indian Railways, has established affordable meal and snack counters near general second class (GS) coaches to cater to the upcoming summer season. This initiative aligns with the organization’s efforts to provide improved services to passengers, particularly those traveling in unreserved coaches. Over 150 meal counters have been set up at 100 stations across India, specifically positioned near GS coaches on platforms. Southern Railway has established exclusive meal counters at 34 stations within its zone, including five in Chennai Division, three in Tiruchchirappalli Division, four in Salem Division, two in Madurai Division, nine in Palakkad Division, and 11 in Thiruvananthapuram Division.
