The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival has reported progress in its ‘Sustain Fringe’ campaign, which aims to mitigate financial difficulties and ensure the festival’s continued success. Since the campaign’s launch in March, over 290 individuals have become monthly donors, collectively raising $100,000. The campaign highlights the rising expenses faced by the festival, coupled with dwindling funding and uncertain revenue streams. The festival, which is the longest-running of its kind in North America, suffered a significant revenue loss of $3 million due to the cancellation of its 2020 event during the COVID-19 pandemic.
