Mumbai Airport Records Surge in Traffic, Expansion of Services, and Sustainability Initiatives

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) witnessed a remarkable increase in passenger traffic and air traffic movements (ATMs) in the fiscal year 2023-24. The airport handled over 52.8 million passengers, marking a 16 percent surge, and accommodated 3,24,972 ATM, representing a 12 percent year-on-year growth. Since the completion of Mumbai’s airport runway recarpeting project, the airport’s operational efficiency has improved. CSMIA also commissioned a rooftop hybrid solar and vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) project at Terminal 2, bringing its total solar installed capacity to 4.782 MW and further increasing its sustainability efforts.
