Emirates Makes Sustainability Strides with Sustainable Aviation Fuel at London Heathrow

Emirates Airlines has received sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Shell Aviation at London Heathrow Airport. This significant move marks the airline’s first use of SAF at Heathrow and the largest amount acquired by Emirates to date. The SAF, mixed with traditional jet fuel, will be integrated into Emirates’ flights until summer 2024, representing a crucial step in the airline’s sustainability journey. The SAF will be managed using comprehensive reporting methods, tracking its sustainability attributes. Emirates supports the London Heathrow SAF Incentive Programme, which promotes the affordability of SAF for airlines and aims to boost the market’s growth. With this collaboration, Emirates seeks to reduce emissions and contribute to the wider adoption of sustainable fuels in the aviation industry.
