Acting on consumer complaints, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided two popular eateries in Noida, McDonald’s and Theobroma Bakery, following allegations of food-related illness. The complaints were lodged through the Food Safety Connect portal of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). In the case of McDonald’s, a customer reported feeling unwell after consuming an aloo tikki burger and french fries. FDA officials visited the outlet and collected samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise for testing. Separately, a woman fell ill after allegedly consuming a stale cake from Theobroma Bakery. The FDA collected a sample of the pineapple cake and sent it for laboratory testing. The FDA anticipates receiving the laboratory results within a month and will register cases if the findings indicate that the samples do not meet safety standards.
