Monsoon to Advance in Eastern India as Heatwave Grips Northern States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the Southwest Monsoon will advance in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal over the next four days. However, a heatwave warning has been issued for today in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, and Jharkhand, with heatwave conditions also likely in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar on 15 June. Meanwhile, wet spell conditions are expected in northeastern states, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Heavy rainfall is also predicted in several states, including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of India can expect thunderstorms, rainfall, gusty winds, and heatwave conditions in the coming days. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds till tomorrow, June 9. The northwestern states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan will also witness thunderstorms, light rainfall, and gusty winds today. Northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim can expect widespread light to moderate rainfall for the next seven days. Southern states including Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry are forecasted to receive light to moderate rainfall till June 12. Heatwave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha on June 9. Severe heatwave conditions are also possible in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Delhi Weather Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Dust Storms Expected

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light rain, thunderstorms, and dust storms in Delhi-NCR on Friday, June 6. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 28 degrees Celsius. A strong dust storm hit several parts of the region overnight. The weather change is attributed to a western disturbance. The IMD predicts partly cloudy skies, dust storms, and thunderstorms over the next few days. Isolated hailstorm is also possible in West Rajasthan on June 7. Clear skies with gusty winds are expected on June 9, while partly cloudy skies with strong surface winds are forecast from June 10 to June 12. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 43 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Weather Forecast for Wednesday: Heatwave in North India, Heavy Rainfall in South

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave-like conditions in parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and East Madhya Pradesh for Wednesday, June 5. The onset of the monsoon in the southern peninsula is bringing heavy rainfall to Kerala and other adjacent areas, while eastern states will also experience downpour due to another branch of the monsoon. The IMD has also forecast lightning, hail, and squally winds in places over Uttarakhand and at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal & Sikkim, and Bihar.

Delhi Weather Update: Heatwave Conditions, Thunderstorms, and Dust Storms Forecast

Delhi residents brace themselves for another day of sweltering heat as the city experiences a minimum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, well above the average for this time of year. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 44 degrees Celsius, with partly cloudy skies and isolated pockets of heatwave conditions. However, relief is in sight as thunderstorms, dust storms, or light rain are possible towards the evening or night. Strong surface winds, reaching speeds of up to 35 kilometers per hour, will occasionally occur and intensify throughout the day.

Chennai is predicted to receive heavy rains over the next few days, with the IMD issuing a yellow alert for week-long showers. West Bengal will experience light to moderate rainfall until June 8, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
