Residents of Tiruchi and Pune face scheduled water supply disruptions due to planned maintenance work by respective authorities. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) announced a shutdown in Tiruchi, affecting several areas, while the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) notified a city-wide water cut due to maintenance at water treatment plants. The disruptions are expected to last for a day in both cities, causing inconvenience to residents.
Residents of Tiruchi and its neighboring districts are facing extreme heat as temperatures have soared above 41 degrees Celsius. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, which is still significantly higher than the normal temperature for this time of year. Neighboring districts such as Karur, Perambalur, and Ariyalur have also been experiencing heat wave conditions with temperatures reaching over 41 degrees Celsius. This unusually hot weather has been attributed to high temperatures and humid conditions, and is expected to continue until April 27th according to the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
Devotees gathered in Tiruchi to participate in the annual Chithirai car festival of the Rockfort Arulmigu Thayumanaswami temple. The festival commenced on April 13 and culminated with the car festival on Monday. Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi participated in the event, pulling the temple car alongside devotees.
