CBI Probes Land Grabbing and Sexual Harassment Allegations in Sandeshkhali

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) to investigate allegations of land grabbing and sexual harassment in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. The FIR names five individuals, including the main accused Shahjahan Sheikh. The probe stems from a January 5 attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in Sandeshkhali and the subsequent arrest of Sheikh. Following Sheikh’s arrest, women in the area have come forward with allegations of sexual abuse by TMC leaders. Additionally, families have claimed their agricultural land was forcibly converted to fisheries by TMC members.
