A sheriff’s deputy in Idaho, who previously served as a police officer in Pleasant Hill, California, died after being shot during a traffic stop on Saturday. The 27-year-old deputy, identified as Tobin Bolter, joined the Ada County Sheriff’s Office in January. According to authorities, Bolter made a traffic stop at around 8:55 p.m. when a suspect opened fire. A witness to the shooting called 911 and performed CPR on Bolter until medics arrived. Bolter was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The suspect, a 65-year-old man, was later shot and killed by Ada County Sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly fired at them while they attempted to take him into custody.
