In a move to bolster their outfield, the Chicago White Sox have acquired Tommy Pham from Triple-A Charlotte. To make room on the roster, journeyman outfielder Kevin Pillar has been designated for assignment.
Pham, 36, has a wealth of experience in the majors, having played for seven different teams. He has a career batting average of .259 with 130 homers and 431 RBIs.
Pillar, 35, has struggled at the plate this season, hitting just .160 in 17 games. He is a veteran of nine seasons, with a career average of .257 and 107 home runs.
