South Sharqiyah Embarks on Development and Tourism Projects to Boost Domestic Tourism

South Sharqiyah Governorate is actively working on establishing two new waterfronts in the Al Ashkharah area and Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, as well as constructing parks and other amenities to enhance tourism infrastructure. The planned investment of RO90.51 million by 2025 showcases the region’s commitment to becoming a premier tourist destination. Despite its summer temperatures remaining below 30°C, South Sharqiyah will host a surfing championship in August to promote watersports and diversify recreational activities.

Patnitop Marathon 4.0: A Celebration of Sportsmanship and Health

On May 26th, 2024, Skyview by Empyrean and K.A. Sports and Events proudly launched the fourth installment of the Patnitop Marathon, India’s most picturesque hill race. The event, supported by the Patnitop Development Authority and Jammu and Kashmir Tourism, attracted over 500 participants from 48 cities and 14 states across India. Races were held in various age divisions across a 21.1km half marathon, 10km run, and 5km non-competitive run. All participants received an official t-shirt, a medal, breakfast, a sports drink, photographs, and a digital certificate, as well as a complimentary round-trip gondola ride.

During the ‘Maldives Media Meet’ at ATM 2024, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal emphasized the Maldives’ unique tourism model and its commitment to maintaining high-quality services through collaboration with the private sector. Lisbon to Double Tourist Tax, Joining Other Portuguese Cities Imposing Fees

Lisbon is expected to double its tourist tax, joining a growing number of cities in Portugal that are implementing such fees. The tax, which is applied to anyone staying overnight in the city, will increase from €2 to €4 per person per night, adding an additional cost to visitors. The revenue generated from the tax will be used for maintaining the city’s infrastructure. Other Portuguese cities, such as Amarante, have also introduced tourist taxes, with Amarante’s tax varying depending on the season.
