India has unveiled a special tourist train, the ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Express’, designed to reconnect Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) with their ancestral roots. This three-week journey across India will visit key cultural and religious sites and is fully sponsored by the Indian government. The initiative is set to depart on January 9, 2025, marking the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s return to India from South Africa.
