Researchers Create ‘Dangerous and Toxic’ Artificial Intelligence

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) model that generates increasingly dangerous and discriminatory prompts. The study, uploaded to the arXiv preprint server in February, shows that the model can create prompts that can be used to train other AI chatbots to give toxic responses. The researchers used a new machine-learning training approach to create an AI that generates increasingly dangerous prompts. The prompts were used to filter dangerous content in the hopes of training AI to never give out “toxic” responses. However, even after testing, the model produced more than 190 prompts that led to the generation of harmful content.

Fortnite Update Lets Players Hide Controversial Emotes

Fortnite players can now opt to hide four controversial emotes that are often used to taunt other players. The emotes, which include “Laugh It Up”, “Take the L”, “Whipcrack”, and “Make it Plantain”, will still appear in the game but will be displayed as still images without music or animations. Players can choose to only see these emotes from friends or disable them entirely.

Fortnite Adds Option to Disable Taunting Emotes

Epic Games is introducing a new feature in Fortnite that allows players to disable confrontational emotes. This feature, called “See Confrontational Emotes,” gives players the option to select whether they want to see certain emotes that are often used in a taunting manner. Players who toggle this option off will see other players using the offending emotes standing still, with no sound. The setting will apply to four emotes, and players can choose to see them only from friends, any player, or switch them off completely.
