The Chennai commercial court has allowed Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd. (TAFE) to continue using the Massey Ferguson (MF) brand name in India despite the termination of a trademark agreement with Massey Ferguson Corporation. TAFE, a joint venture between Massey Ferguson Ltd., a part of the AGCO Group, and Amalgamations Pvt. Ltd., has been using the MF brand for over six decades to manufacture and sell tractors in India. TAFE has alleged that the AGCO Group abruptly terminated the trademark agreement without any prior information. The court has issued a notice regarding the termination and has allowed TAFE to maintain the status quo prior to the termination.
