Motorcyclist Dead in Collision with Pickup Truck in Trent Lakes

A 57-year-old motorcyclist from Woodville, Ontario, has died following a collision with a pickup truck in the Municipality of Trent Lakes, north of Peterborough, Ontario. Police say the motorcyclist crossed the center line of County Road 507 on a bend and collided with a northbound pickup truck. Witnesses attempted CPR until paramedics and firefighters arrived, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the pickup truck, a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, managed to escape with minor injuries. Both vehicles were destroyed in the fire that followed the collision. County Road 507 was closed for several hours while police investigated.

Selwyn Township Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Crash North of Peterborough

On Tuesday night, around 11 p.m., an employee at a Trent Lakes business reported that a possibly impaired man had driven away. The police located the vehicle in a ditch along Lakehurst Road and identified a matching description of the driver provided by the caller. The suspect approached the officers and acknowledged being the driver. Police determined he was impaired and charged him with two counts of impaired driving (alcohol and blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus), suspending his license for 90 days and impounding the vehicle for a week. The 28-year-old man was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Peterborough on June 11.
