After facing several years of harsh weather conditions, Utah’s wild turkey population is rebounding, prompting the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) to notify hunters of the improved situation. The milder winter and adequate moisture have contributed to an increase in turkey production and an overall population growth.

Matt Kopec, an adventurous youngster, embarked on a thrilling outdoor adventure in Cache Creek, Johnson County. While hunting with his father, Ron, Matt successfully retrieved a tom turkey with an impressive 9.5-inch beard. The encounter was made more exciting by the presence of four jakes trailing behind the tom. Despite getting wet in the process, Matt’s determination and enthusiasm demonstrate the joy and excitement that outdoor experiences can bring.
