Fresno Grizzlies Accused of Unruh Civil Rights Act Violation in Ladies Night Promotion

A lawsuit filed against the Fresno Grizzlies alleges that the team violated the Unruh Civil Rights Act during a Ladies Night promotional event. The plaintiffs, Christine Johnson and Harry Crouch, claim that Crouch paid $18 for admission while Johnson entered for free. They now seek $5 million in damages. According to legal analyst Kevin Little, promotions that differentiate entry fees based on gender can be risky in terms of legal challenges. The Grizzlies have declined to comment on the lawsuit, and the attorney representing Johnson and Crouch has not responded to requests for comment.
