Odisha Sizzles Under Severe Heatwave, Impacting Health and Economy

Odisha is facing an intense heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in several areas. This has caused serious health concerns, with 73% of females and 62% of males affected. Headache, dizziness, nausea, and heat rash are common symptoms reported. One person has died of heatstroke in the state, and 89 others have been affected. The heatwave is also causing significant economic strain for 33% of those surveyed. Urban areas are experiencing the worst impacts, with physical issues, power cuts, water shortages, and limited access to cooling facilities being major challenges. Residents are calling for the government to take immediate action to address the impacts of the heatwave.
