US Secures Israeli Pledge to Speed Up Gaza Aid Delivery

The head of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, announced that Israel has pledged to facilitate faster and safer movement of aid workers within the war-torn Gaza Strip. This comes as the U.S. prepares to close its temporary maritime pier off Gaza’s coast. Power also highlighted the expansion of aid delivery through the Israeli port of Ashdod, offering a new route for aid distribution. The announcement marks a small step forward in international efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict. The U.S. has committed an additional $100 million in aid to the Palestinians, bringing its total contribution to $774 million since the war began in October.
