South Korea, US, and Japan Conduct Joint Military Drills in Response to North Korean Threats

South Korea, the United States, and Japan are engaging in a three-day joint military drill, dubbed ‘Freedom Edge’, starting Wednesday. The exercise comes as a response to North Korea’s recent intercontinental ballistic missile test and reports of North Korean troops participating in Russia’s war in Ukraine. The drills will feature fighter jets, maritime patrol aircraft, and the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington, showcasing a combined military force.
