Bihar Lok Sabha Battle: Modi’s Popularity Boosts NDA’s Chances in Valmikinagar, West Champaran

The Valmikinagar and West Champaran Lok Sabha constituencies, situated on Bihar’s border with Nepal and Uttar Pradesh, are witnessing a tight contest between the NDA and the mahagathbandhan. In Valmikinagar, the NDA’s Sunil Kumar faces a challenge from RJD’s Deepak Yadav, a local sugar mill owner. The seat has been won by the NDA thrice since 2009, but Yadav’s popularity with sugarcane farmers may alter the dynamics. In West Champaran, BJP’s three-time incumbent Sanjay Jaiswal is pitted against Congress’ Madan Mohan Tiwari. While Modi’s popularity favors the NDA, voters express concerns about unemployment and communal rhetoric.

Former ULFA Commander Naba Kumar Sarania Contests from Bihar’s Valmikinagar

Former United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) commander and founder of the Jan Suraksha Party (JSP), Naba Kumar Sarania, has raised eyebrows by opting to contest the Lok Sabha election from Valmikinagar in Bihar. Despite facing several cases related to militancy in Assam, Sarania believes his focus on corruption in welfare schemes and his past experience in the ULFA will resonate with voters.
