Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima and former first lady Shanil Dzimbiri are among the passengers on a military plane that has gone missing in the country’s northern region. The plane lost contact with air traffic control shortly after takeoff from the capital, Lilongwe, due to bad weather and poor visibility. President Lazarus Chakwera has assured the public that all available resources are being used to locate the plane, and international assistance has been offered from the US, UK, Norway, and Israel. The search operation is focused on a 10-kilometer radius in one of the plantations in the Viphya mountain range, where the plane’s last known position was tracked.
