In honor of Arizona Volunteer Week and Earth Day, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is promoting its Adopt-a-Highway program. The initiative encourages individuals and groups to make a positive impact on the community by volunteering to clean and maintain one-mile segments of Arizona’s highways. ADOT provides all necessary training and materials, while volunteers are asked to commit to cleaning their adopted highway at least once a year. In 2023, the program saw tremendous success with 850 participating groups, nearly 9,000 volunteers, and over 15,000 bags of litter collected.
