The Anchorage Assembly’s certification of the April regular city election results has officially initiated the final phase of the mayoral race. Incumbent Mayor Dave Bronson and his challenger, former Assembly Chair Suzanne LaFrance, are vying for the city’s top elected office after securing the top two spots in the regular election. The runoff election will take place via mail-in ballots, with voters receiving their ballots on April 30th. The deadline to vote is May 14th. The Assembly also welcomed Mark Littlefield as the new representative for District 2, following his unopposed victory. Despite the lower voter turnout compared to previous mayoral elections, the 30.4% turnout still represented an increase from past elections before the city’s switch to a vote-by-mail system in 2018.
