Heavy rainfall in Agra, India, has led to water leakage from the main dome of the Taj Mahal. While the incident raised concerns, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) assures that no damage has occurred to the monument. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea to declare Agra a heritage city, stating that such a declaration would not provide any special advantage.
Despite claims from Public Works Department (PWD) officials, water leakage and seepage persist in the 1.2-km-long Pragati Maidan Tunnel. The issue has been ongoing since the tunnel’s inauguration in 2022, leading to several closures for repair work. The tunnel’s surface also faces problems with bumpy areas, cracks, and broken surfaces, posing risks to commuters.
