Diving bell spiders, known for their unique underwater habitat and cannibalistic behavior, are found in various locations across Europe and Asia. These spiders, also known as water spiders, reside entirely underwater, building complex silk structures called diving bells to retain an oxygen supply. Despite their small size, diving bell spiders prey on small fish, demonstrating a surprising ferocity despite their generally non-lethal bite to humans. The largest populations of diving bell spiders can be found in the UK, particularly along the southern coast and in areas such as the Lake District. However, they are also prevalent in Scandinavia and popular holiday destinations in Europe like France, Germany, and Switzerland.
