Tharoor explained that ‘memorable’ signifies something unforgettable, while critics accused him of being insensitive to the tragedy. The controversy erupted after Tharoor shared a video of his visit to Wayanad and captioned it ‘Some memories of a memorable day in Wayanad’. Several users, including BJP leaders, criticized his choice of words, questioning his sensitivity towards the loss of life and devastation. Tharoor, however, maintained that his intention was to highlight the unforgettable nature of the event and the efforts made to provide relief to the affected people.
